Linfield College is an independent, comprehensive undergraduate institution,
nationally recognized for its strong teaching faculty, outstanding academic
programs and distinctive international emphasis. Linfield's challenging
and exciting academic program features a broad liberal arts core and an
atmosphere in which there is genuine concern for individuals.
The college offers 43 majors and enrolls over 2,600 students
through three programs: the main campus in McMinnville; the Portland Campus,
which is home to the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing; and the
Adult Degree Program, a pioneer in adult education, with eight sites throughout
Oregon and courses online.
Linfield is one of the oldest colleges on the West Coast,
tracing its roots to an institution established in 1849. The Baptist College
in McMinnville, chartered in 1858, was later named McMinnville College
and finally, in 1922, Linfield College. The college has been accredited
since 1928. It is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA.
Special Notes:
During the academic year, Linfield College offers the local community
award-winning theatre productions, concerts, art exhibits and lectures
by nationally and internationally known figures. The Oregon Nobel Laureate
Symposium is one of only five such programs in the world.
Linfield's 19 varsity athletic teams provide exciting
opportunities for local residents to watch nationally ranked sports teams.
The Linfield Wildcats have compiled 50 consecutive winning seasons in
football, currently the longest winning streak of any college in the United
States.
