When David Lett planted vines in the Yamhill Valley back in the mid-Sixties, folks thought he was, well, crazy. Everyone knew Oregon was too cold to grow wine grapes ... right?

The vox populi was half right. It takes a little craziness to put everything on the line for a crop that is at the mercy of temperature, rain, pests, birds and labor. But it turned out to be worth that risk.

Today the Yamhill Valley is central to a burgeoning Oregon wine industry. It's the new home of the pinot noir. In fact, some experts say Oregon's pinots are the best in the world.

Amity Vineyards

International Pinot Noir Celebration
The International Pinot Noir Celebration is a three-day event recognizing the Pinot Noir wines from around the world. Participants may attend an array of seminars, tastings, meals and a tour of Oregon wine country.

McMinnville Wine & Food Classic
The 16th Annual McMinnville Wine & Food Classic will be held March 13-15, 2009 at Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, in the heart of Oregon Wine Country.
